   Morehead Memorial Hospital Financial Assistance

Morehead Memorial Hospital wants to make sure that financial concerns don’t keep people from getting the health care they need. So we are committed to providing financial assistance to people who are unable to pay for medically necessary health care whether they have insurance or not. And no one will ever be denied emergency medical care because of their inability to pay for those services.

 CharityEligibility guidelines
Eligibility for assistance is based on your resources (income plus assets like savings, investments, and owned property), family size, the amount you owe, and the current Poverty Guidelines (PG).

North Carolina residents
If your resources are no more than 200% of the Poverty Guideline for your family size, you will receive a full discount and will not owe the hospital any money.

If your resources are no more than 400% of the Poverty Guideline for your family size, you will qualify for a partial discount.

If your resources are no more than 700% of the Poverty Guideline for your family size, what you owe the hospital will be limited to 20% of your resources.

Out-of-state residents
If your resources are no more than 150% of the Poverty Guideline for your family size, you will receive a full discount and will not owe the hospital any money.

If your resources are no more than 350% of the Poverty Guideline for your family size, you will qualify for a partial discount.

If your resources are no more than 650% of the Poverty Guideline for your family size, what you owe the hospital will be limited to 20% of your resources.

If you qualify for a partial discount, you may set up payment plans for the remaining balance. For more information, call us.

In compliance with the Affordable Care Act of 2010 (ACA), we also provide a discount if you qualify for financial assistance but don’t have insurance. The amount of financial assistance you receive will be based on the balance left after this discount.

To apply
To be considered for financial assistance, you will be asked to provide information to the hospital by completing a Financial Disclosure form. Information you give us on this form is kept confidential. We can use it to make decisions about financial assistance for up to one year from when you complete the form or until changes occur in your financial situation that could be relevant in our decision. If your situation changes, you should fill out a new Financial Disclosure. We will contact you when we have reviewed your information.

If you are applying for the first time in the past year or have applied during the past year but your financial situation has changed, download a copy of the Financial Disclosure form, or call us to request an application.

If you have applied during the past year and your financial situation has not changed, download a copy of the Financial Attestation form, or call us to request a copy.

Mail the completed form and any necessary attachments to Patient Accounting.

Please note that our financial assistance program applies to your hospital bill only. It does not apply to bills for services provided to you by physicians or any facility not owned by Morehead Memorial Hospital.
