MMH Receives Accreditation from DNV Healthcare
Morehead Memorial Hospital announced that is has achieved national accreditation from DNV Healthcare, the only hospital accreditation program approved by the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) that integrates the ISO 9001 Quality Management System with the Medicare Conditions of Participation.

Antibiotic Resistance: A serious new threat
Morehead Memorial Hospital is joining with hundreds of healthcare facilities across the nation in addressing the growing problem of drug resistant infections. Since their introduction, antibiotics have significantly decreased death and disability resulting from infectious diseases. The bad news is that disease-causing microbes are resilient and can develop ways to survive drugs that are meant to kill or weaken them. As these hard-to-kill “super germs” become more common, antibiotics become less effective.

What you can do about MRSA and antibiotic resistance?
Notify your medical doctor when a boil develops—the most common type of MRSA infection in a community setting. A boil is a tender, red lump that swells and gets pimple-like white heads.

Morehead Memorial Hospital is Tobacco-Free
Morehead Memorial Hospital's tobacco-free policy means that any use of tobacco products is prohibited by all employees, physicians, visitors, patients, volunteers and vendors anywhere on the main hospital campus at 117 East Kings Highway or at the Wright Diagnostic Center, 618 South Pierce Street. This prohibition applies to tobacco use in personal vehicles on the property as well as on the heliport grounds and any sidewalks or streets within the boundaries of the campus.
