Living Wills

Learn about current NC legislation related to Advance Healthcare Directives and prepare your Health Care Power of Attorney and Advance Directives for a Natural Death ("Living Will") documents. Each session begins with an informational discussion. Those attending are assisted in finishing their documents. A notary and two witnesses are present to finalize the completion of the documents. There is NO CHARGE for this community service. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED - preferably at least one week in advance. Call Marcia McQueen, director of Chaplaincy Services to register: 336-623-9711, Ext. 2482. If you get voice mail, leave your mailing address and session for which you wish to register. The Community Advance Directive for the North Carolina Piedmont Triad: An Easy-to-Use Legal Form for all Adults is utilized and will be sent to you when you register so you can begin reading and thinking about your wishes.

Summer 2014 Youth Volunteers

We are now accepting applications for youth volunteers, ages 14-18, for our Summer 2014 program. Applications are available in the guidance offices of Rockingham County middle and high schools for interested students. Please remind students to stop by the guidances offices to pick up their application. If students do not attend school in Rockingham County, an application may be picked up in the Volunteer office at Morehead Memorial Hospital. Applications must be submitted by Wednesday, May 14.

Basic Life Support Training

A comprehensive program is available to individuals who have had a heart attack, open heart surgery, valve replacement, angina and/or other cardiac procedures. The program consists of a prescribed regimen of physical exercise to improve functional work capacity, psychological, nutritional, and vocational education. This program requires a physician’s referral. A maintenance program is available for those who have completed the Cardiac Rehabilitation program.

Diabetes Management Program

A series of three group educational classes designed to teach individuals how to lead a healthy and independent lifestyle while living with diabetes. Our program is recognized by the American Diabetes Association and includes education and personalized nutrition counseling. A physician referral is required.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program

Pulmonary Rehab is an ongoing program for people who have a chronic lung disease such as asthma or COPD. The program includes an individualized exercise program to improve your endurance and functional ability. The program includes education and training to provide you techniques to help you breathe better. A physician referral is required.

Special Young Adults

A night for adults ages 18-45 with mild or moderate developmental disabilities to meet new friends, play games (Bingo, Uno, Dominoes), make crafts, enjoy snacks and participate in other social activities.
